Steven M. Lester is a 1989 graduate from Fordham University School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was a member of the school's Law Review. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Steven is also a certified public accountant. He received his B.B.A. (Public Accounting), magna cum laude, from Hofstra University in 1986, where he minored in Political Science, and was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies.
Prior to establishing his own firm in 1999, he was associated with the New York City law firms of Dewey Ballantine and Miller & Wrubel P.C. Steven is a member of the New York State (Civil Practice Law & Rules Committee, 1993-1997; 2000-2003) and Nassau County Bar Associations. He also serves as legal counsel to the Democratic Caucus of the Town Board of the Town of Hempstead (2000 to present) and served as general counsel to P.U.L.S.E. of New York, a non-profit patient advocacy group. Steven served as the President of the Board of Trustees of his church, the South Nassau Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Freeport, New York (2003-2005) and served as a Trustee for three separate terms (1995-1998; 2003-2006; 2009-present). Steve served as the Legislative District Leader for the 19th L.D. for the Nassau County Democratic Committee, and was a member of the Merrick Kiwanis Club. He previously served as President of the Friends of the Merrick Library (2001-2003) and was appointed by the Nassau County Legislature to serve on the Temporary Districting Advisory Committee, which recommended new boundaries for the county legislative districts based on the 2000 Census.
Steven is a native of Bellmore, New York. He is married with a daughter and son and resides in Merrick, New York.
